Formerly owned by The Ohio State University Endowment (change of ownership on 24 March 2008), the University Plaza Hotel offers complimentary transportation to The Ohio State University campus, the site of the main events of the conference. (The hotel is about 2.2 miles from Ramseyer Hall (Building 090, 29 W. Woodruff Avenue), where the conference will be held.) Note that the University Plaza Hotel will also be the site of the conference banquet on Saturday evening, 26 April 2008.
Chartered Bus Schedule (pdf file) — In addition to the hotel's shuttle service to the Ohio State campus, chartered buses will be available in the morning and evening during the 2-1/2 days of the conference to take participants between the hotel and the conference site on the OSU campus.
ROOM RESERVATIONS: When you reserve a room — via phone-in (and not on-line) reservations — be sure to identify yourself as attending an Ohio State University event, namely, the 20th North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics, or NACCL-20. This will ensure that you will receive the NACCL-20 group discount on accommodations ($99.00/night, king beds). (Rollaways are available for $15.00/night.) The discounted rate also holds for extension of overnight accommodation before and/or after the conference, but would be subject to room availability. (Note: If you are overseas and need help with making hotel reservations, please contact ‹naccl-20@osu.edu›.)
ROOM AVAILABILITY: A total of 65 rooms had been reserved for conference participants for the nights of 24-26 April 2008. The rooms reserved at the conference group rate were originally only guaranteed to be available until 17 March 2008. Thanks to our very helpful contact person earlier this spring, Richard Montgomery, we are able to retain a small block of rooms under our conference event up through 10 April 2008. However, since the number of these rooms is limited, if you need to reserve a room at the University Plaza Hotel, please do so as soon as possible. In other words, don't wait until 10 April 2008; by then, those rooms may very well be gone.
ROOM-MATES AND ROOM-SHARING: We regret that we will not be trying to arrange crash space for student presenters. This is because the conference takes place in the middle of our Spring Quarter. As a result, our graduate students will be very busy with their course work, with course preparations in their teaching, and with conference activities. Instead, members of the Graduate Association of Chinese Linguistics (GACL) — a special component of the NACCL-20 Organizing Committee — will do their best to provide graduate students from out of state and abroad with contact information on other participants who are also looking for room-mates to share hotel costs. For assistance, please contact the Graduate Association of Chinese Linguistics at gacl@osu.edu (or: at gacl.osu@gmail.com during this period of email migration at Ohio State).
