    Chinese Pinyin Fonts and Layout



    The Chinese Pinyin Fonts were designed in October 1996 by Professor Chin-Chuan Cheng (now at City University of Hong Kong). The fonts for Windows environment for PC’s, and those for MacIntosh computers can be downloaded from the following URL:



    The cpinyin fonts have the following key mapping of the tone-marked vowels. They are given in the sequence of tone 1, tone 2, tone 3, and tone 4 in that order in pairs. For example, to type i with tone 1, you press % (i.e. shift and 5). (Alternatively, see the location of the tone-marked vowels based on keyboard layout.)
